On Sunday evening, 5 January, a fire broke out at a student accommodation on Olastorpsvägen in Näsby. The fire has been extinguished, according to reports, and the police are on-site investigating the cause of the fire.
There are no reported injuries, according to initial statements by Fredrik Bratt, police spokesperson. The police suspect the fire was deliberately set and are currently gathering information.
- We are immensely relieved that no one has been injured according to the police’s information, says Åsa Vännman, University Director and Safety Coordinator at Kristianstad University. At the same time, it is very concerning that the fire is suspected to have been intentional. We will now leave the continued investigation to the police.
If you are feeling worried or need someone to talk to, Kristianstad University’s Student Health Services will be available starting 7 January. The student counsellor can be reached at 044-2503093.
